I really want to live and work in our nations capital. However, is only applying to jobs there defining my own destiny without allowing the universe to offer guidance? Should I be more open to options and look elsewhere as well?

Dear SAP,There are only two ways to conquer destiny or be independent of it. One is to enquire for whom is this destiny and discover that only the ego is bound by destiny and not the Self and that the ego is non-existent. The other way is to kill the ego by completely surrendering to the Lord, by realizing one's helplessness and saying all the time, 'Not I, but Thou, oh Lord' and giving up all sense of 'I' and ‘mine’, and leaving it to the Lord to do what he likes with you. Complete effacement of the ego is necessary to conquer destiny, whether you achieve this effacement through Self-enquiry or bhakti marga (path).

It is truly ashame that our natural tendency is to flee in search of something better. When does this cycle end? Ghandi said the path to light is "desirelessness". I feel one needs to look inward to find harmony, and not search for certain cities to make them happy.
cities don't make mer happy. but career progression and development professionally does...as lame as that may sound. though she must comment that the system does on occasion really bring her down. it's about seeking a path not finding peace. peace of course comes from within. totally.
